I have officially survived armageddon the week of waaay too many people in one house. I arrived mid-afternoon Christmas eve, St. Adelaide met me at the airport with what is quite possibly the biggest hug I’ve ever gotten, then proceeded to the house. Wow, Dayton is kinda ugly in the winter. Not that I don’t understand the industrialization of the mid-west and the historical significance of the fall of the steel mills and such, but still. Just a touch not pretty-I’m sure its beautiful in the warmer months though. I spent my 6 days there holed up on the couch with either Isaiah the Prophet or St. Adelaide (until presents were open, then I became invisible), reading, cooking, playing in the snow, walking Loki waaay too often in the snow, chugging sangria with my siblings, etc… It turned out to be a fabulous week, made me realize how much I miss the kiddoes. Odd that-I don’t particularly care for children, but I heart my niece and nephew something fierce! Just as long as I can give them back after a while…

The Aftermath
To Ohio And Beyond
Flying to Ohio today-sister and her two kiddoes (St. Adelaide the Righteous and Isaiah the Prophet) and hubby live in Dayton so the powers that be decided that it would be a good idea for the entire family to go visit for Christmas. Now, I heart my family in a big way, but the thought of being in a 3-bedroom house with all 9 of us for an extended period of time makes me a touch nervous. Go figure. I almost physically ache to see my sister’s kids (they are stinkin’ amazing), so I’m very much looking forward to cuddle time. All the same, here is an overview:
7 adults (ages 26-64)
2 children (ages 1.5 to 5)
2 dogs (one 70 lbs, one 15 lbs)
1 bathroom
3 bedrooms
3 beds
1 couch
1 loveseat
3 air mattresses
20 bottles of assorted alcohol (champagne, wine, etc..)
18 live lobster being flown in from East coast
328 lbs of chocolate and other dessert items (yack)
642 presents (635 of which are for the kids)
Brief overview, but you get the idea. Oh yes, all of that in one house for about 5 days. I’m going to go ahead and throw it out there again that I love my family, but geez, I’m kinda scared….
